Gogoi made the comment during a meeting with union Sports Minister Ajay Maken at the Chief Minister's residence here today, an official statement said.
The two discussed matters related to sports culture, talent among youngsters and sports infrastructure in Assam.
On his part, Maken said the North Eastern states have immense potential in sports and has already produced a number of famous sportspersons.
