The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha in the next 24 hours.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over interior Odisha and heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over coastal resgion during the next 48 hours," S Sahu, the director of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said.
Sahu said the upper air circulation in the Bay of Bengal near Bangladesh is causing rainfall in the state. Mahanadi river catchment area will also receive good amount of rainfall, he said.
Meanwhile, sources in the IMD said that the most places over north and interior Odisha have received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeter are Jagatsinghpur (11 cm), Baripada (10 cm) and Jaipur (9 cm).
