Timely action by police today foiled self immolation bid by two women outside the police commissioner office here, an official said.
According to police, two women who were demanding the cancellation of FIR under Section 307 of IPC (attempt to murder) against their husbands lodged by a group of city-based lawyers.
The moment the duo reached outside the commissioner office, they poured kerosene oil on themselves after which the traffic police constables who were standing there, swung into action and overpowered them, they said.
Senior police officials arrived at the spot and apprised the women that the police in its enquiry report had issued clean chit and filed report in the court of law for the cancellation of FIR against their husbands.
