Press Trust of India Shillong
Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Kamlesh Kumar Pandey today asked Meghalaya government to implement the mandatory 3 per cent job reservation for persons with disabilities, as mandated by the law.

"In most of the state departments there is a lot of backlog as they failed to maintain the roster system. There is no data regarding the backlog in vacancies for the PWDs in the state," Pandey said after meeting with NGOs here.

He said a report will be prepared in this regard and submitted to the state government for having a different disability department in the state.

"I have taken note on the suggestions including those given by the NGOs. I will prepare a report and give it to the chief secretary KS Kropha for its implementation," he said.

"I will also write to the chief secretary to ensure that an exclusive department for PWD is set up," he said.
