Impostor robs trader of cash, jewellery inside train

A passenger travelling on the Krishak Express was allegedly robbed of jewellery and cash worth several lakh rupees by an impostor, police said today.

Alok Kumar Gupta, who boarded the train from Lucknow, was looted this morning while on his way to Haridwar to attend a marriage function there, a police spokesperson said.

According to the complaint, Gupta said a man posing as coach attendant stole his bag in which jewellery along with cash was kept, they said.

Police said that Gupta, a trader by profession, has claimed that the jewellery and cash in the bag amounted worth Rs 20 lakh.
 

The accused has been nabbed and a case of theft lodged against him, police said adding that further probe was underway.
