A local court today awarded 10-years rigorous imprisonment to a Sri Lankan national for attempting to smuggle heroine and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on him.
Additional Judge of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances court V Ramamoorthy convicted Sivanandan, arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau in 2006 at the international air terminus here, while attempting to leave for Sri Lanka with 2.2 kg of heroine in his suitcase.
