In 2015, over 15% of Delhi women became mother after 30

Over 43 per cent of women in the national capital had their delivery between the age of 20-24 years while about 15 per cent gave birth after attaining the age of 30 years in 2015, a Delhi government report says.

According to Annual Report on registration of births and deaths, 38 per cent of women had given birth between the age of 25-29 years.

Releasing the report, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the sex ratio at birth in Delhi increased from 896 females per thousand males in 2014 to 898 in 2015.

He said 43.97 per cent of women had their delivery between the age of 20-24 years while 38 per cent had given birth between the age of 25-29.
 

Besides, 15.3 per cent of women aging more than 30 years had given birth during 2015.

The report said total number of births registered in the capital has increased from 3,73,693 in 2014 to 3,74,012 in 2015.

The average number of births per day works out to be 1,025 in 2015 compared to 1,024 in 2014. Of total births registered, 1.97 lakhs (52.7 per cent) were male and 1.77 lakhs (47.3 per cent) female.

"The birth rate reduced from 20.9 per thousand populations in 2014 to 20.5 in 2015. Out of total registered births in Delhi, 34.99 per cent were registered in North MCD, 31.80% in South DMC, 20.35% in East DMC, 11.92% in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and 0.94% in Cantonment Board Area," said a senior government official.

Report says average number of births per day in Delhi during 2015 was 1,025 and average number of deaths 341.

Thus the net natural increase in population of Delhi is 684 per day and 2.50 lakhs in a year.

The remaining increase in the population of Delhi is due to migration.
