In camera proceedings in gangrape case ends

In camera proceedings in the fast-track court hearing the December 16 gangrape case ended today with the media allowed conditional access to cover the trial.

As the Delhi High Court allowed coverage of the case, the fast-track court sought the response of the prosecution on a plea of a accused seeking bail to meet his personal commitments.

Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna, who is exclusively dealing with the cases of sexual offences, cautioned reporters about adhering to conditions mentioned in the High Court order.

He also asked the defence and prosecution counsel to maintain decorum as both sides were trading charges against each other.
 

Vinay Sharma, one of the five adult accused, sought bail on the ground that he is a student of first year B.A. And that his studies were being "affected" due to the case. He also mentioned that he has to attend to his ailing mother in hospital.

He also said there is noone in his family to look after his wife and minor son. The court asked the police to file its reply on Monday.
