Incessant rains lash UP; many rivers flowing above danger line

Incessant rain continued to lash Uttar Pradesh with many rivers including the Ganga flowing near or above the danger mark, creating flood-like situation in several villages in the state.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower occurred at a few places in eastern Uttar Pradesh and most places in the western region.

While Baheri recorded 17 cm of rainfall, Palliakalan, Hamirpur and Bareilly recorded 14 cm, 13 cm and 12 cm rain respectively.

The Met department has forecast rain or thundershower at most places in the state and heavy rain in isolated places.

Central Water Commission said the Sharda river, which was rising continuously, was flowing above the red mark at Palia. The Ghaghra continued to flow above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Turtipar areas.
 

While the Rapti river was flowing above danger mark at Balrampur, Bansi, Rigauli, Bird Ghat in Gorakhpur, water level of the Ganga was close to the danger mark at Fatehgarh, Kannauj and Kanpur, creating flood-like situation in several nearby villages.
