Income limit for creamy layer among OBCs raised

He said 49 communities were included in the OBC list in the state and with the enhancement of income limit for creamy layer the scope of benefits had been widened for inclusion of more beneficiaries.

Presiding over the meeting of HP OBC Welfare Board here, Dhumal said the state government was providing 12 percent reservation to OBCs in direct recruitment to Class I and II posts and 18 percent in Class III and IV posts in the government for socio-economic upliftment of these castes.

Dhumal said a majority of OBC beneficiaries were also covered under the Social Security Pension Scheme and getting monthly pension of Rs 400.

 

There the 2,77,817 beneficiaries, getting social security pension in the state and 1,04,156 new cases had been added during the present government's rule, he added.

He said Rs.6. 15 crore had been spent on implementation of different schemes for the welfare of OBCs during the current financial year.

Earlier, presiding over a meeting of Kabir Panthi Welfare Board, the Chief Minister said the grant-in-aid for housing to Scheduled Caste beneficiaries had been increased to Rs. 48,500 per unit and Rs.16.27 crore would be disbursed among 3,353 beneficiaries during the current financial year.
