The number of children reported missing is on the increase in Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here today.
Stating this during question hour in the assembly, he said a total of 1,194 children had gone missing so far this year, of whom 1,142 were rescued.
The total number of children missing in 2011 stood at 952, of whom 923 were traced. In 2012 the figure was 1,079 of whom 1,056 children were traced, he said in a written reply.
The figure was 1,208 in 2013 and 1,188 were traced. In 2014 the number of children reported missing was 1,229 and those traced were 1195, while in 2015 the number was 1630 and 1617 children were traced, he said.
