The indefinite Imphal-Moreh road blockade in Manipur, called in connection with the killing of a school teacher since March 2, has been called off with immediate effect by members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), JAC Convenor Mangboi said.

Pointing out that the JAC has arrived at an "understanding" with the state government, Mangboi said the agreement was reached after a joint meeting with members of JAC and representatives of the state government yesterday.

A 7-point memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was also submitted to Irrigation and Flood Control department (IFCD) minister Ngamthang Haokip and other senior government and police officials of Chandel district by the Committee, according to a police officer.

The indefinite blockade was imposed by members of the JAC after the school teacher, Ts Haokip, succumbed to injuries after being beaten up by suspected NSCN (IM) militants at Aimol Satu village and the alleged failure to nab the accused involved in the incident.
