'Independence Day 2' gets official title

The follow-up to 1996's "Independence Day" will be titled "Independence Day: Resurgence".

Director Roland Emmerich revealed details about the film including the plot details and the movie's character alongside the new cast members in a live streaming, reported Aceshowbiz.

The new cast includes Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe and Sela War.

The returning actors such as Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch also joined the director in the live stream.

Emmerich, 59, hinted that the sequel would take place 20 years after the alien attack in the first film starring Will Smith.

Liam Hemsworth who will essay the role of Jake described his character saying that Jake was an orphan after he lost his parents in the first attack.
 

The "Hunger Games" star explained that Jake joined the military and became a fighter pilot who got a great job of driving moon tug, which he called "a forklift on the moon.
