The Independence Day celebrations passed off peacefully across Kashmir Valley where the national flag was unfurled at all the district headquarters today, with the main function at Bakshi Stadium here in the summer capital of the state.
"There is no report of any untoward incident from any part of the Valley," a police spokesman said.
He said the functions in all districts of the Valley concluded peacefully and a large number of people participated in the celebrations.

Police and paramilitary CRPF personnel were deployed in strength across Srinagar city and vulnerable spots in other districts of the valley.
Restrictions were imposed in five police station areas of the interior city here to maintain law and order.
Security forces had established temporary barricades at other places in the city and elsewhere in the valley to check movement of militants, who might have tried to disrupt the official functions.
A thick security blanket had been thrown around vital installations including Bakshi Stadium, where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah unfurled the tricolor.
Similar functions were held at all the district headquarters, where senior ministers of the coalition government unfurled the flag and took salute.
