Independent MLA Sheikh Abdul Rashid was today marshalled out from the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after he and PDP members created a ruckus over the issue of return of Afzal Guru's mortal remains and the comments of Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on it.

As the House reassembled after adjournment at 3 PM, Engineer Rashid, an MLA from Langate, trooped into the well and resorted to protest along with PDP members demanding the return of the body and clarification from the government on Shinde's statement.

As the protests were going on, Congress Minister Sham Lal Sharma objected to this behaviour of the legislators, particularly the Independent MLA who, he said, was speaking against the Constitution of India and those giving Guru the titles of 'sahab and martyr.'

Sharma, who holds the portfolio of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, urged the Speaker to expunge the entire statement in the House in which Guru had been called by such titles and the 'anti-constitutional' comments."Someone is saying Guru as sahab and others martyr, I condemn it.

"This type of language is very unfortunate and it should not be used in the House by the members who had taken oath under the Constitution of India and the state," he said.

As the protests continued, Speaker Mubarak Gul ordered marshalling out of Rashid and the PDP members. While marshalls took the MLA, the party continued with its protest.

Later, the Speaker adjourned the House for the day.

Outside the House, Rashid said, "Shinde's comments have really hurt the people of Kashmir... Protest is my right. I was doing it."

"The action of marshalling me out was unwarranted and unwanted," he said.

Shinde had yesterday ruled out moving Guru's body from Delhi.
