The index of mineral production for November went up 3.9 per cent while the total value of mineral output during the month has been estimated at Rs 20,481 crore.
"The index of mineral production of the mining and quarrying sector for November... 2016, at 135.9, was 3.9 per cent higher compared to November 2015," the Ministry of Mines said in a statement.
"The cumulative growth for April-November 2016-17 over the same period of the previous year has been 0.3 per cent," it added.

The contribution of coal was the highest at Rs 8,737 crore (43 per cent), followed by petroleum (crude) Rs 5,227 crore, iron ore Rs 2,140 crore, natural gas (utilised) Rs 2,134 crore, lignite Rs 643 crore and limestone Rs 541 crore.
These six minerals together accounted for about 95 per cent of the total value of mineral production in November 2016.
The production level of key minerals during the month included 604 lakh tonnes of coal, 37 lakh tonnes of lignite, and 2,580 million cubic metres of natural gas (utilised).
