India bag silver, bronze at Antalya Archery World Cup

Rajat Chauhan bagged a silver in the compound individual section after going down to Korean Yong Choi at the Archery World Cup Stage III in Antalya, Greece today.

According to information received here, Chauhan began poorly and trailed by five points as he tried to recover from a jittery start with a perfect 30 in the third end. His efforts were not enough as the Korean won 145-141.

It was India's second medal of the day after they opened their account with a bronze in the women's compound team event with the trio of Trisha Deb, Lily Chanu Paonam and Purvasha Shende got the better of higher-ranked Mexicans.
 

The 11th ranked Indian trio shot 226, while Mexico's Brenda Merino, Linda Ochoa and Katya Sofia managed 224 to go down by a margin of two points.

Both the teams shot 57 each in the opening end but India took a two-point lead shooting two perfect 10s in the next.

Mexico had four 10s in the third end as against two by India to narrow the lead to a slender one-point.

In the decider, the Indians held their nerves firing in four 10s and two 9s to clinch the issue.

India also have a third medal assured in the recurve mixed pair event where Jayanta Talukdar and Laishram Bombayla Devi will take on their Chinese opponents on the concluding day tomorrow.
