Puerto Rico's governor says India-based business consulting and information technology company Infosys expects to invest USD 9 million in the US territory.

Alejandro Garcia Padilla said today that Infosys will open an office in the northwest coastal town of Aguadilla in a move expected to generate 300 jobs.

He said the company will provide services to the US defense and aerospace sectors.

Garcia has made job creation a priority as the island of 3.67 million people battles a 14.7 per cent unemployment rate, the highest compared with any US state.
