India can meet demands of defence, aerospace: Guv

India is now capable of meeting the growing demands of defence and aerospace industries even as the ease of doing business in Telangana has improved over last one year, Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh E S L Narasihmhan said today.

"Today, we have the right skill, competence, determination and understand the importance of doing business in Telangana. Indigenisation is an important component of doing business and the state is confident that the growth of this (defence and aerospace) sector is bound to happen," a release quoted the Governor as saying.

The Governor inaugurated the second Edition of Defence and Aerosupply India 2015 here this evening.
 

Telangana Minister for Industries, Handlooms and Textiles and Sugar, Jupally Krishna Rao said, "The 3-day global conclave is the right platform to help growth of the defence and aerospace sector in the state.

"With the new 'Defence Policy' to be made by Telangana government based on the deliberations of the conclave, it would give right impetus to the industry," the Minister said.

Niti Aayog member V K Saraswat said Indian defence industry offers huge opportunities of USD 200 billion and we are at the "threshold of this growth of the sector".

Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister and RCI Director, Satheesh Reddy were among other dignitaries present at the function.
