"India and China are discussing the possibility of opening additional Consulates Generals in each other's country," Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said in a written reply.

On whether China has expressed interest in creating 'Sister City' ties with Indian cities, he said, "The agreement is currently being negotiated."

In a separate question over the stand taken by China in the South China sea, he said the area is "disputed" among many countries.

"Sovereignty over areas of South China sea is disputed between many countries in the region," Ahamed said.

He further informed the House that India has conveyed to all the involved nations that the issue must be resolved peacefully in accordance with the international law and justice.

"Government has clearly conveyed that sovereignty issues must be resolved peacefully by the countries which are parties to the dispute in accordance with international law and practice," he said.

Ahamed was asked whether it is a fact that many countries are concerned regarding adamant stand taken by China on monopoly of South China sea.
