India defeated Poland 3-0 in its last league match in Pool D to top the group and earn an automatic quarterfinal passage in the boys' team event of the World junior squash championship here today.

India thus completed the league with three wins for the maximum points.

India was well served by Velavan Senthilkumar, Abhay Singh and Ranjit Singh. All of them were fluent in their victories against their Polish opponents to finish off the tie in quick time.

Earlier India had just managed to edge out New Zealand 2-1 to keep alive their hopes of topping the pool.

Surprisingly it was the team's key player Velavan Senthilkumar who became a victim in this three singles tie when he lost his match against Jamie Oakley in straight games. Abhay Singh and Adithya Raghavan however won their matches to help India get to the winning margin.
