India had over 350 mn internet subscribers at June-end: Sinha

The number of Internet subscribers in the country was 350 million at the end of June this year with Maharashtra accounting for the largest share, Parliament was informed today.

Internet subscribers as of June 30, 2016 stood at 350.48 million, Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.

Maharashta had the highest number of internet subscribers among various telecom circles at 30.36 million, followed by Tamil Nadu at 27.96 million and Andhra Pradesh at 25.86 million subscribers.

Delhi had 21.42 million subscribers at the end of June, while Mumbai and Kolkata had 15.8 million and 9.31 million subscribers, respectively.
 

Minister of State for Electronics and IT PP Chaudhary, in response to a separate query, said a total of 108.41 crore Aadhaar cards have been generated as of November 30, 2016.
