An international arrest warrant was today issued against one of the several LTTE sympathisers who invaded the pitch during last month's ICC Champions Trophy semi-final between India and Sri Lanka at Cardiff, as he was accused of swindling USD 2,30,000 in Lanka.

A Colombo magistrate court issued the warrant against Yogeswaran Manivannan, wanted for a number of ATM frauds over a period of 9 months, amounting to 30 million Lankan Rupees.

Police told the Colombo magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya that the suspect was identified by matching CCTV cameras footage from bank ATMs and video footage from the Cardiff match.

Manivannan was among several LTTE supporters who ran on to the ground carrying LTTE flags during the final over of the Sri Lankan innings of the Cardiff match last month.

Sri Lanka has formally protested to the UK over the invasion and the alleged attacks carried out by LTTE activists against Lankan fans after the match.
