India Machine Tools Show opens, to boost manufacturing

Union Minister Kalraj Mishra today inaugurated here the India Machine Tools Show, which aims at promoting innovation and manufacturing in the sector.

The show will witness over 150 exhibitors showcasing innovations in machine tools undertaken by them.

The 4-day exhibition has drawn participation from over 1,000 companies from India.

Speaking at the inauguration, MSME Minister Mishra said it is important to encourage entrepreneurship and promote start-ups for innovation in machinery and manufacturing industry in the country.

"Instead of importing products and tools from foreign land, we as a developing country, should strive for manufacturing better machinery here. This drive towards indigenous manufacturing will help Indian industries to learn advanced manufacturing techniques and better production.
 

"Special efforts should be made to recognize, support and develop the role of Indian MSMEs and enable them to compete internationally," the Minister said.

Mishra said the exhibition will also provide a major interface between Indian manufacturers of machine tools and international companies to boost trade and exports implied with Make in India drive and reduce dependence on imports.
