India make winning start in Asian Senior Women's Volleyball

Indian eves started their campaign at the 17th Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship on a perfect note, defeating Philippines in straight sets at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

The Indian eves thrashed Philippines 25-22 26-24 25-12 in their first pool fixture of the tournament to be held from September 13 to 21.

According to information received here, Tiji Raju and Anusri Ghosh excelled in blocking, while Soumya was successful in her intelligent smashes.

Libero Priyanka was good in reception and court defence which helped setter Terin Antony to play various combination attacks. Captain Minimol was excellent in her deceptive shots.

India will play formidable China in their next match.
