India-Nepal Folk Crafts Festival opens

The India-Nepal Folk Crafts Festival (INCF), an initiative of South Asia Foundation (SAF) to promote cultural exchanges between the two neighbours, began here today amid much fanfare.

The festival, from December 19-23, aims to promote crafts based bilateral relations and enhance cultural exchanges between the artisans of India and Nepal.

SAF, set up in 1991, has been working to enhance the livelihood of the artisans of the region and contributing towards strengthening the crafts sector of Nepal and India.

The Craft Festival (INCF-2016) is being sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and is organised by South Asia Foundation and SAF-Nepal in association with Council of Handicrafts Development Corporations (COHANDS) and being supported by Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, B P Koirala India-Nepal Foundation (BPKF), Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) and Nepal Tourism Board.
 

SABAH Nepal is also partnering with INCF-2016.

The India-Nepal crafts festival highlights more than 70 theme based pavilion with focus on folk crafts of India and Nepal, cultural events, live demonstration by crafts-persons, design workshops to be conducted by qualified designer/ experts, trade facilitation and exclusive buyer-seller meet among others.
