India-Pak border guards hold quarterly meeting

The Indian delegation was headed by Deputy Inspector General, BSF P S Bains and Pakistan Rangers delegation was led by Deputy Director General, Pakistan Rangers, Punjab, Brigadier Muhammad Jamil.

During the meeting, matters pertaining to defence construction, firing incidents, border problems and crimes like drug trafficking, infiltration, smuggling of Arms/Ammunition/FICN, inadvertent border crossings and other matters of mutual interest were discussed between the two sides, the officials said.

Later, talking to reporters about smuggling of drugs from Pakistan to India, Brigadier Jamil said that though the borders between both the countries were well protected by the security forces, but even then such activities were carried out.

 

He claimed that Pakistan was determined to control smuggling of drugs to India.

The Pakistan delegation later returned to their country after the meeting.
