India pledges Rs 44 million assistance for Nepal Academy

India today pledged 44.12 million rupees in grant assistance for the construction of Nepal Academy's library building here.

Indian envoy Ranjit Rae announced this during a function to laid foundation stone for the three-storied building.

Nepal Academy, established in 1957, is a premier national institution devoted to the promotion of language, literature, culture, philosophy and research activities.

On the occasion, Rae underlined the importance of Nepal-India economic cooperation programme as a cornerstone of the development partnership between the two countries.

Various projects being implemented under the programme will help the Nepalese people in their strides of attaining peace and prosperity, he said.
