India, Poland discuss cooperation in film sector

India and Poland today agreed to expand co-operation in restoration and digitisation of film archives.

This was agreed upon in a meeting between Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka and a visiting high-level Polish delegation headed by the country's Secretary of State Malgorzata Omilanowska.

Both the countries also agreed to form a joint working group to prepare a road map to enhance co-operation in films, animation, digitisation, student exchange programme, etc, said a government statement.

Julka briefed the delegation about various initiatives of his Ministry in the film sector such as setting up of National Film Heritage Mission with digitisation of film archives and setting up of a centre of excellence on animation, Gaming and Visual effects.
 

He also informed them about the participation of India in various film festivals to promote India as a filming destination.

Both the countries also agreed to further explore possibilities of signing a co-production agreement in the field of animation.

Appreciating the Ministry's initiative, the Polish delegation extended its support for restoration and digitisation of film archives, the statement added.
