India has provided 50 million Nepali rupees grant assistance for diabetic patients care programme across the country.
'Nepal-Bharat Maitri Chikitsa Shivir' organised by Gandhi Global Family Nepal at Tatopani, of Sindhupalchowk district near Tibet border for screening and treatment of diabetes mellitus under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme was today inaugurated by Piyush Shrivastava, Counselor, Political and Economic Cooperation, Indian Embassy here.
The government of India is providing financial assistance to GGFN for conducting 30,800 diabetic basic lab tests and free medicine to 10,450 diabetic patients for 6 months period under the programme.

Similarly, advance diabetic diagnostic test has also been provided to 4,400 patients through health camps in various districts of Nepal, according to a statement issued by the Embassy.
The grant assistance will be used by GGFN to provide service at the doorstep of the people by way of screening camps to be organised in 11 different districts of Nepal.
India's assistance to GGFN has an outlay of over NRs 65 billion with more than 475 large and small development projects completed or currently being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal.
These development projects mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development have been undertaken in response to local needs, and in partnership with the Government of Nepal, the statement said.
