India, Qatar discuss proposals of mutual interest

India and Qatar discussed issues and proposals of mutual interest in a number of sectors, including investment, banking, energy, petrochemicals and tourism.

"India and Qatar had cordial and productive discussions in the framework of the historically close and friendly relations, and the multi-dimensional and growing cooperation between India and Qatar," the finance ministry said in a statement.

"Both sides discussed issues and proposals of mutual interest in a number of sectors including investment, banking and finance, energy, petrochemicals and fertilisers, civil aviation and tourism," it added.

A 18-member high-level official delegation led by Qatar's under secretary in the Ministry of Economy and Commerce HE Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater visited New Delhi on March 25 and 26, 2014.
 

Indian delegation at the official discussions with the Qatari delegation was led by Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) Secretary Arvind Mayaram.

The visiting delegation also interacted with a number of representatives of India's corporate sector at business events organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
