India's biggest dry bulk vessel berths at Essar Ports, Hazira

Country's largest dry bulk vessel MV Kiran of Essar Shipping landed at Hazira Port for discharging iron ore pellets.

"Essar Ports's largest dry bulk vessel of 175,000 tonne DWT (deadweight tonnage) vessel berthed at Essar Bulk Terminal, Hazira to discharge Iron Ore Pellets," the company said in a statement.

The vessel, owned by Essar Shipping, has an overall length of 281 metres and Beam (width) of 45 metres, making it the largest ship the terminal has handled till date.

"We deployed powerful tugs, and ensured adequate under keel clearance, accurate judgement of vessel's engine and steering capabilities. We congratulate the pilots and the terminal team which brought in the largest ship we have handled till date," Captain Subhas Das, CEO, Essar Bulk Terminal (EBTL), Hazira, said in the statement.
 

"We are proud of our team at Hazira, which is now handling some of the largest bulk carriers. Our focus is on operational excellence and safety of operations, and our teams on the ground are continuously striving towards it. My congratulations to the EBTL Hazira team on this achievement," Rajiv Agarwal, MD & CEO, Essar Ports said.
