India's fish production may touch 10 ml tons in 2 yrs: Pawar

Speaking at the seventh governing body meeting of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Pawar said the industry has been growing at 5 per cent.

"Fisheries is important to GDP growth also. Last year, we recorded 8.4 million tons. The production may touch 10 million tons in the next two years," the minister said in the meeting.

Meanwhile, the governing body cleared the establishment of National Freshwater Fish Brood Bank Facility in Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar. It will be managed by the NFDB in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries Government of Odisha.
