India has supplied 108 different essential medicines, worth Rs three crore, to Seychelles during 2016, the External Affairs Spokesperson said here today.
It said the supply was made in response to a request from the Government of Seychelles.
"The majority of medicines are for combating common infections, while others are to treat diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc," the spokesperson said.

He said the medicines, weighing about 42,000 kgs, were procured by the Ministry through Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Supplies and sent in four lots.
"This gift of medicines is part of USD 8.76 million earmarked for supply of medical equipment and medicines to Seychelles. The Government of Seychelles has expressed its gratitude to Government of India for helping it in the fight against disease and protecting the weaker sections of society," the Spokesperson said.
