India and Singapore today discussed ways to further boost trade and investment ties between the countries.

"Reviewed bilateral trade and investment ties with Singapore's Foreign Minister Mr. K. Shanmugam," Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her tweet.

Singapore has replaced Mauritius as the top source of foreign direct investment into India, accounting for about 25 per cent of FDI inflows in 2013-14.

However, the bilateral trade between the countries declined to USD 19.37 billion in 2013-14 from USD 21.10 billion in the previous fiscal.

Singapore is the country's largest trade and investment partner in the ASEAN region.

Both the countries have implemented a comprehensive free trade agreement since 2005.

Shanmugam is among the high-profile visitors here wanting to engage with the new leadership.
