India supports building of 2 schools in Palestine

India has donated Palestine USD 7,00,000 for the construction of two schools to develop education system there.

It is the second installment of a USD 1.8 million project to build two schools - Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for Girls in Asera Al Shamalyeh, north of West Bank town of Nablus, and Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for Boys in Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem.

A MoU in this regard was signed during the visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to New Delhi in 2012.

"We are extremely grateful to India for the kind contribution. New Delhi's generosity is going to greatly help quell overcrowding at schools in Nablus and Abu Dis area," Director General of PA's Education Ministry Fawaz Mujahed told PTI.
 

"India has always been at the forefront of providing required educational support to the Palestinian youth and hundreds of our youngsters have benefited in acquiring technical know how through various Government of India schemes," Mujahed said.

"We also greatly value the unflinching political support we receive from India," he emphasised.

The representative of India to PA, BS Mubarak presented the cheque to Mujahed.
