India to face Jordan in FIBA Asia U-16 Championship opener

The Indian under-16 Boys will take on Jordan in its opening match of the third FIBA Asia Basketball Championship in Tehran, Iran tomorrow.

The boys were part of the training-cum-preparation camp in Dungguan, China from September 15 to 22, where they competed against various Chinese club teams.

The FIBA Asia Championship will be played from tomorrow to October 4.

The tournament will begin with 14 teams divided into four groups (Group A, B, C and D) in the preliminary round. Team India has been placed in Group C and has Jordan and Japan as opponents.

After their encounter against Jordan, India will play their second and final match of the preliminary round against Japan on September 27.
 

Defending champions China have won both the inaugural (Malaysia 2009) as well as the second edition (Vietnam 2011) of the championship. India ranked 10th in the first and second championship for U-16 Boys.

Head Coach Tritesh Guha, along with Raghavendra Singh Gaur, will be leading the Indian contingent to Tehran, Iran.
