Yoga is a 5,000-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practices having its origin in India, which aims to transform body and mind.

"The embassy is organising the programme on Yoga in association with various organisations including Patanjali Yoga Ashram and Aurovindo Yoga Ashram, Nepal," said Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae at a press conference.

On the occasion, a souvenir on yoga, Yoga Sandesh will also be launched. Essay and drawing competition have also been organised to mark the event.

The UN General Assembly had last year adopted a draft resolution, declaring June 21 as International Day of Yoga.
