India Yamaha rolls out one millionth vehicle scooter

Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today said it has achieved 10 lakh production milestone for its scooter offerings, four years after the launch of its first scooter in the country.

The company rolled its one-millionth scooter 'Fascino' from Surajpur plant in Greater Noida today, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) is targeting 10 per cent market share in scooters by the end of this year, it added.

IYM entered the scooter market in India in 2012 with Cygnus Ray model aimed at young females. The company currently produces Cygnus Ray Z, Cygnus Alpha, Cygnus Ray-ZR and Fascino scooter models in India.
 

Out of the one million scooters produced, around 80,000 scooters have been exported to the global markets. The major overseas export countries for Yamaha are Nepal, Mexico, Sri Lanka followed by Cost Rica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador, the company said.
