Indian Air Force holds 574-km long ultra marathon

The Indian Air Force has started a 574-km long 'ultra marathon' to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the 1965 war from Air Force station at Pathankot.

Air Commodore J S Dhamoon, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Pathankot yesterday flagged off the first leg of the marathon from Air Force Station Pathankot, a defence Spokesperson said here.

The Air Officer Commanding also ran with the participants to boost them up, he said.

Seven air warriors, led by Group Captain V S Chaudhary, including a lady officer Squadron Leader Gayathri, will complete the endurance event covering a total distance of 574 km, he said.
 

The ultra marathon would conclude on September 20 at Air Force Station Hindon in Ghaziabad in UP, he said.

While 42 Air Warriors from various units of the IAF participated in the first leg of the Marathon, under which 12 participants ran for 50 km till Dasuya and 30 participants for 10 km, the Spokesperson added.
