Indian alternative medical treatments gaining acceptance: FM

Indian alternative medical treatments like Ayurveda are gaining acceptance worldwide and the UN will again celebrate June 21 as World Yoga Day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said today.

Speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of Ayurveda Kendra, he said India with its diversity has tremendous amount of ingenuity and alternative form of medicines are getting accepted.

"People across the country has benefited from this idea (Ayurveda) and now of course the world outside is also accepting it as an additional accepted science," Jaitley said.

He said from Ayurveda to homoeopathy to other Indian lifestyle treatments are all being accepted worldwide.
 

The United Nations has accepted yoga and June 21 is celebrated as international yoga day. "I am told that they are going to repeat the exercise," Jaitley said.

Using Ayurveda, various diseases from cardio vascular to weight loss can be treated and the treatment also brings in a sense of discipline in a person's life, he added.
