An Indian-American has been appointed the director of South East/Asian Community Affairs in a county in the US state of New York, officials said today.
Dilip Chauhan will be responsible for monitoring and enhancing minority and women owned business participation in Nassau county contracts and purchases as the director of the organisation, said an official release.
"Dilip is a diligent professional and a respected leader in the South East/Asian community," Nassau Comptroller George Maragos said.

Chauhan said he looks forward to advancing the mission and goals of the Comptroller's Office while helping members of the community to better navigate local government, and gain full access to business opportunities.
In addition to being the South Asian Community Coordinator for several municipalities, Chauhan has also served as an advisor to the Association of Indian-American Physicians.
