Indian auto industry to start electronic exchange of info

The automotive industry has set up an electronic platform 'AutoDX' to help manufacturers and suppliers exchange industry data which would save their processing cost and time.

AutoDX would be formally launched during the Auto Expo 2014, which is starting tomorrow, the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) President Harish Lakshman said.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) have jointly developed the platform.

"It would be a server to server connection between the OEMs and the suppliers and various informations on commercial, logistics, financial, engineering and other kind of data's would be exchanged," Lakshman said.
 

He added that it would save around 80 per cost on processing.

Moreover, the B2B platform would also be used by the trading partners, logistics providers, banks and others who serve the auto industry.

According ACMA Executive Director Vinnie Mehta, the pilot project of AutoDX has been finished with 10 OEMs and similar number of suppliers.

Auto makers Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, TVS, Hero Motor Corp, Tata Motors have already started sharing their information under the pilot project. The vendors such as Bosch, Asahi Glasses etc have also connected to the B2B network.
