"Flavors First: An Indian Chef's Culinary Journey", published by Lake Isle Press, Inc. And in India by Om Books, has been selected in the 'Cookbooks' section.

"Flavors First" captures the journey of Khanna as a chef and the chapters are devoted to the complete Indian meal including easy handmade breads, a variety of chutneys, appetisers, slow-cooked curries, desserts, and cool refreshing drinks.

Husain's "Fatal Faultlines: Pakistan, Islam and the West" was selected in the 'Politics and Current Affairs' category.

The book, published by HarperCollins, examines the history and politics that have sustained the centuries-old conflict for global power between Islam and the West.

Drawing on personal experiences, interviews and decades of observations, Husain explains how different perceptions and misunderstandings have poisoned attitudes on both sides.

The awards in 55 categories recognising excellence in both editorial and design were presented here on Monday.

The awards are administered by the Independent Book Publishers Association, with the help of more than 160 book publishing professionals coming from the library, bookstore, reviewer, designer, publicity and editorial industry segments.

A unique feature of the awards is that all entrants receive critique sheets with advice on how to improve their publications, as well as words of appreciation for the good work produced.
