With the aim of wooing global film directors and producers, several Indian tourist spots will be showcased as "Incredible filming destinations" at Cannes film festival.

The 66th Cannes film festival is celebrating the 100 years of Indian cinema and India is the guest country at the festival.

"The Indian delegation comprising from Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Tourism Ministry officials is participating in the event to showcase the heritage of Indian films and promote India as a "Filming Destination" as cinema has emerged as a powerful tool for the development and promotion of destinations," said a senior Tourism Ministry official.

Oscar award-winning film "Life of Pie", directed by Ang Lee, was shot in Pudducherry and Munnar (Kerala). The Tourism Ministry is promoting these destinations as the "Land of Pie".

The Tourism Ministry has signed an MoU with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to promote Indian cinema as part of Incredible India campaign at various international film festivals like IFFI Goa, European Film Market and Cannes Film Festival.

The Tourism Ministry has set up Incredible India booths at the exibition site of the Cannes film festival.
