An Indian delegation of university presidents, rectors and deans made a week-long trip to the United States to get a first-hand experience of various aspects of community colleges here.
The eight-member delegation visited Montgomery College (Maryland), Washington's Bellevue Community College and Shoreline Community College, and Bronx Community College (New York).
Organized by the Institute of International Education (IIE), the trip was funded by the US Embassy in India.

"The goals of the visit were to explore and understand the different models of community colleges within the US system, how they function within their local communities, and how each builds their curriculum and develops their faculty," IIE said.
According to IIE, the group also had a strong desire to advance their own capacities through the observation of others as well as plant the seeds for future partnerships and collaborations with US colleges.
