Vivek Bhatnagar, senior Assistant general Manager Human Resources with Bahwan Engineering Company, was one of the eight people who had suffered burns and other injuries after the explosion at the Muscat Oasis Residences complex in Bausher on August 12.

Bhatnagar incurred 50 per cent burns in the blast and remained in ICU until his demise on Monday.

In a separate incident, a Bangalore-based fisherman, Maheboob Ali, went missing off the sea coast of Tubli in Oman.

Three Indians and a Bangladeshi were swept away by strong currents on the coast while they were fishing on Sunday.

According to reports, Indian nationals Lionel Fernandez (35) and Abu Hussain (55) swam ashore and later managed to rescue Bangladeshi Mohammed Yusuf (25). However, Ali could not be rescued and is still missing.
