The BJP on Thursday wondered what bothered the Congress at a time when the national flag was flying high on international forums under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

"On the strength of his calibre and resolve the prime minister has kept the Indian flag flying high internationally. I wonder what is bothering the Congress," Uttarkhand BJP president and Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt said in a statement here.

He said every Indian should take pride in the way India has emerged as a strong country under the decisive leadership of Modi who is among the topmost leaders of the world at present.

"The historic success of Howdy-Modi and the feverish enthusiasm with which he was welcomed at the programme, the bonhomie witnessed between him and US President Donald Trump are things that should make every Indian proud," Bhatt said.

The "international isolation of Pakistan" on the issue of terrorism is a major diplomatic success and the credit for it goes entirely to the prime minister, he said.

"India's growing international prestige under Modi is hard for the Congress to swallow. That is the reason why it keeps attacking Modi even when he is praised on all international forums," Bhatt said.
