Indian, foreign currency worth Rs 4 lakh looted

Unidentified robbers allegedly looted Indian and foreign currency worth Rs 4 lakh from a money exchanger at Qadian in Gurdaspur district tonight.

According to police, Amit, an owner of Amit Enterprises, and who runs a money exchanger shop at Civil Lines in Qadian town in Gurdaspur district, was closing the shutter of his shop when some unidentified armed persons snatched his bag containing Rs 3 lakh Indian currency notes and nearly Rs one lakh foreign currency.

The armed miscreants who came in jeep managed to escape after snatching the bag.

SHO Qadian Kulwant Singh said a case has been registered in this connection.
