A 14-year-old Indian girl in the UAE has been allegedly stabbed to death by a Pakistani boy before immolating himself after she rejected his proposal, according to a media report.

The boy, also 14, is believed to have gone to the girl's flat when her mother was away at work. What exactly transpired after that is not clear, but it is believed that the teenagers had an argument, Khaleej Times reported.

It was believed that the girl rejected the boy's love proposal, the report said.

The boy then reportedly stabbed the girl to death and later doused kerosene on both of them and set fire in the bedroom of the girl's apartment in Al Hamriyah.

The bodies of the two will be handed over to their families after autopsy result and forensic reports.

A can of liquid fuel was found in the room, the report said.

The case has been transferred to the public prosecution for further investigation.

The girl was an aspiring dancer and a member of a prominent Indian dance troupe here.

A member of the group described her as a "lovely child" who was very passionate about dancing.

The girl's family is in a state of shock and refused to talk to the media.
